The hotel is misleadingly marketed with outdated photos, presenting a significantly different reality. The room was left in a filthy state, with mould on the shower curtain and dirty towels. Despite some warm dishes being enjoyable in the dining area, the overall hygiene and maintenance standards are unacceptable. Complaining about the conditions only led to dismissive responses from staff, creating a frustrating experience during my family stay.

So, we thought we were in for a nice stay, but boy, were we wrong! The room was super dirty, like, clearly not cleaned in ages. There were dirty towels and mold. Plus, the bar music was so loud that my kids couldn’t sleep. On top of that, the dining service was pretty decent, but that's about it.

Whimsical, whimsical, whimsical.
Every room has a unique theme—mine was a fabulous ode to Bruce Willis, filled with fun memorabilia! I loved sipping local ales in the bar surrounded by quirky decor that felt like a time capsule. The location is perfect for exploring nearby gardens. it was a joy to stroll through nature after a cozy stay!

The retro décor gives Buckingham a charming character, with quirky details and art that made me chuckle. It's conveniently located just a short walk from the delightful Pavilion Gardens, perfect for leisurely strolls at my age.
Need more comfortable seating in public areas.

the hotel is full of character and has a real retro vibe. the staff were super friendly and made us feel welcome. the bathroom in our room was actually quite nice and big with a roll top bath! its also in a great spot, just a short walk to the local attractions. parking was pretty easy too!
the place can feel a bit dated and the beds weren’t the most comfy. also, the bar was quite disappointing with only 1 beer tap working.

The charm of the Buckingham caught me off guard. I appreciated the unique decor, especially all the film-themed elements in my room. It felt like stepping into an old movie set rather than a typical hotel room. The comfortable bed offered a decent night's sleep. Clean towels were provided, and the shower packed a solid punch with hot water. I found the quirky atmosphere delightful, even the slightly worn parts like the mismatched furniture added character. The location stood out too, easy access to explore Buxton right outside. the hotel really needs some love. The carpets looked tired, and I noticed peeling wallpaper in the corridors. The cold tap in my bathroom misbehaved, squirting unexpectedly. There was a distinct smell in the hallway and our room, something not quite right that was hard to ignore. the food service was lacking. no meals available on-site.

Quirky Charm with Room for Improvement
I had a delightful stay with a unique retro vibe that really captured my interest, particularly seeing the themed decor and quirky art throughout the hotel. My room was spacious, featuring a lovely roll top bath that was far more luxurious than I expected. the bed was a bit uncomfortable, and the bar could use better beer options to enhance the experience.

The hotel has a unique charm, with friendly staff and a comfy room that surprised me despite the dated decor. Though some areas felt unloved and the bathroom needed deep cleaning, the character and price make it a worthy stop in Buxton, especially for a night or two.
